Does it Cost Money to Spread the Gospel?

...Continued

YOU SAID: “WE ARE NOT IN ANCIENT ISRAEL. IT COSTS TO DO STUFF NOW.”

We have an economic/financial system, and the Israelites had an economic/financial system. We have currency (the dollar), and the Israelites had a currency (gold and silver/shekels). We hold Holy convocations, and the Israelites held Holy convocations. However, you are being charged currency to attend a so-called “holy” convocation, but the Israelites were not charged. You can look up all the Scriptures where the Israelites held Holy convocations, and you will see that they were never charged currency. Their Holy convocations were a time of rest from their labors, feasting, sacrifice, and repentance. The priests read the Law of God at Holy convocations. They did not invite the heathen to speak about secular issues. That would be mixing the sacred with the profane, the clean with the unclean, thereby rendering the convocation UNHOLY.

Poor Israelites received provision from the priests, who used resources from the storehouse (a room in the Jewish Temple, where produce/food was kept). The godly wisdom demonstrated in this, was that EVERYONE could participate in the Holy convocation. No respecter of persons/partiality/favoritism was demonstrated at Israel’s Holy convocations. It is clear from Scripture, that Israel’s Holy convocations were (drum roll) a call to HOLINESS. It wasn’t a meeting where they got together with the heathen to talk about “other things.” It was a time for Israel to come together corporately, focus on God, examine their spiritual health as a nation, and repent as a nation. This so-called “holy” convocation that Glen Staples speaks of is a JOKE and an INSULT in light of what the Scriptures teach about Holy convocation. He either needs to line up with Scripture, or call off this dastardly meeting (which I know that he won’t, because he’s rebellious).

Charging ppl to attend a so-called “holy” convocation is wicked and unbiblical. Inviting the heathen to speak at a so-called “holy” convocation is wicked and unbiblical. In Scripture, Holy Convocations were FREE, and ONLY the saints were invited (not the heathen).

YOU SAID: “YOU KNOW THE WORD…MONEY ANSWERETH ALL THINGS.”

In Ecclesiastes 10:19, Solomon sarcastically said that money answers all things. I can CONFIDENTLY say that he was being sarcastic because in the SAME book (Ecclesiastes) Solomon said that gathering financial wealth and material things was VAIN/VANITY. I know that the following passage is long, but PLEASE read it. Here is Solomon’s perspective on gathering money/wealth/material things: “I made my works great, I built myself houses, and planted myself vineyards. I made myself gardens and orchards, and I planted all kinds of fruit trees in them. I made myself water pools from which to water the growing trees of the grove. I acquired male and female servants, and had servants born in my house. Yes, I had greater possessions of herds and flocks than all who were in Jerusalem before me. 8 I also gathered for myself silver and gold and the special treasures of kings and of the provinces. I acquired male and female singers, the delights of the sons of men, and musical instruments of all kinds. So I became great and excelled more than all who were before me in Jerusalem. Also my wisdom remained with me. Whatever my eyes desired I did not keep from them. I did not withhold my heart from any pleasure, For my heart rejoiced in all my labor; And this was my reward from all my labor. Then I looked on all the works that my hands had done And on the labor in which I had toiled; And indeed all was vanity and grasping for the wind. There was no profit under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 2:4-11)

Another reason why I know that Solomon was being sarcastic is because money does not answer all things (David, Solomon, Moses, Peter, Paul, and myself know this)…let me ask you a few questions “Jane”. When you were dead in your sins and in need of salvation, did money answer all things? Was money the answer then? No. Jesus was the answer. After the prodigal child left home, wasted all of his money, and ended up living in the mud with pigs…did money answer all things? Was money the answer for him? No. God was the answer. You see….the saints know that money does not answer all things. That is a carnal mentality. Solomon was being sarcastic in Ecclesiastes 10:19….remember he was a very wise man who sometimes spoke in parables and riddles, and the spiritual truths in these parables and riddles are spiritually discerned by those with a spiritual mind. Someone who listens to prosperity preachers will read Ecclesiastes 10:19 and literally believe that money answers everything. But not even Solomon believed that…nor did his father David. They knew that God answers all things…so do I, and if you’re honest with yourself, you know that money doesn’t answer all things either.
